The I-BFM Executive Board consists in the chairperson(s) together with the appointed representatives from each participating national study groups. This body is responsible for the overall coordination and for providing strategic guidance to the study group.
The Executive Board is led by a Chairperson, whose work is supported by an Administrative Office and a Scientific Secretary.
The Co-Chair is the local organizer of the I-BFM annual meeting, together with the Local Organising Committee.in 2016 this role is covered by Dr. Batia Stark from Israel.

Since 2016, Professor Andrea Biondi officially started his chairmanship on the study group.
Prof. Andrea Biondi is the Director of the Pediatric Department, Full Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Monza (MI) Italy, reference centre in Italy for paediatric haematology-oncology and congenital metabolic disorders.
He is the Scientific Director of the “M.Tettamanti” Research Center for leukaemic and haematological diseases of children, and of “S. Verri” Cellular and Gene Therapy Laboratory, one of the first academic GMP facility approved in Italy by the Regulatory Authority. He was Member of the European Hematology Association (EHA), President of SIOPE, Chair of AIEOP the Italian National Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Study Group. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology , EHA, SIOP.
His research focuses on the molecular characterization of pediatric leukemia, either in term of cloning and identification of new genes as well as in the use of molecular tools in clinical studies leading the standardization of molecular technique for the assessment of Minimal residual Disease in childhood ALL. Since 2007 he promotes several innovative pre-clinical and clinical research projects in the field of cellular and gene therapy for childhood ALL.
